Apparel Product Development Internship

During my internship at Lakeshirts, a leading apparel manufacturing company with over $200 million in annual revenue, I served as the sole product development intern under the mentorship of the VP and product development manager. I played a hands-on role in developing multiple clothing lines, contributing to garment fittings, CAD design, trend forecasting, color formulation, pattern adjustments, and quality testing. I also gained valuable exposure to the business side through vendor meetings and weekly cross-functional meetings with teams across marketing, buying and pricing, quality assurance, creative direction, sales, graphic design, and product development. Additionally, I took a leading role in organizing and presenting fashion shows at 3 major sales conferences.

Trend Forecasting

At Lakeshirts’ annual sales conference for its emerging brand, Yesterdays Sportswear, I collaborated with my supervisor to create and present a market trend report. This curated collection highlighted key trends supported by research that we aimed to incorporate into the upcoming Yesterdays line.

Color Forecasting

I formulated 2 new colors in the college line, backed by trend research. I also helped with matching Pantone TCX to the color of our garment samples.

Sales Conference Fashion Shows

I coordinated models and directed 3 sales conference fashion shows during my time at Lakeshirts. I found music to correspond with each show, queued models to walk down the runway, and organized garments according to the models.

CADS

I created new garment flats for all the colors we have to offer for each garment. This provided user-friendly access to all departments of the company for when they need to pull a specific colored garment.
